About the test
During the spring and summer of 2025, we tested a trip planner for combined journeys. Users were able to search for trips and book part of their journey using a rental bike or e-scooter from Styr & Ställ, Dott, Ryde, or Voi.
What happens now?
After we have completed the test, we will evaluate it based on your feedback. The next step is to investigate how we can best facilitate combined travel with public transport and rental bikes and electric scooters in the future.
Results
- The function has potential, and users see the added value of shared micromobility as a complement to public transport. However, they do not consider the journey planner sufficient as a standalone solution.
- The main barrier to combined travel is the unwillingness to pay full price for two modes of transport. The most common request to encourage more combined travel is an integrated ticket or a discount when using shared micromobility for part of the journey.
- Users are positive about the function, but feel that the journey planner’s functionality needs to be improved.
What happens now?
Our conclusion is that a combined ticket is of greater value than a journey planner alone, and that the ideal solution includes both ticketing and journey planning. Such a solution can provide clear added value for travellers, encourage more people to travel using combined modes, and in the long term contribute to more sustainable travel.
