Map for combined journeys

In this test, we tried displaying rental bikes and electric scooters along with our stops on the same map. The purpose was to investigate whether the map makes it easier to combine public transportation with other shared solutions.

About the test

We see shared micromobility as a great complement to public transport in urban areas. With this test, we aim to make it easier for our passengers to combine public transport with shared solutions by displaying available rental bikes and electric scooters in Gothenburg and Mölndal on a map alongside our stops.

The map showed rental bikes and electric scooters from Voi, Bolt, Styr & Ställ, and Ryde. Users could filter by provider, access discounted offers, and book trips directly in the provider's app.

Results

  • 9 out of 10 who provided feedback appreciate the feature.
  • Users find it helpful to see all providers on a single map.
  • Many request better integration of the map with regular public transportation.
  • Other requests include having the map available in the To Go app and expanding ticket collaboration between the providers and Västtrafik.

What happens now?

We have now collected your feedback and evaluated the test. The next step is to look at how we can best facilitate combined journeys using public transport and rental bikes in the future.

Based on the first test of the map, we are currently exploring a new feature that will make it even easier to make a combined journey with public transport and shared micromobility. The goal is to test this feature in our test channel in summer 2025. We are also investigating the possibility of a ticketing partnership between Västtrafik and the operators active in the area.
